London Fashion Week is here. To celebrate, we’re mapping out the perfect fashion week day the best way we know how – through the places we’ll be stopping to take a breath.
This year, the British Council has claimed The Store Studios on The Strand as their home for LFW. The main show space is situated a stone’s throw from its previous location, Somerset House, as well as being a short walk from Covent Garden.
Whether you’re attending the shows or simply indulging in some fashionable people-watching (who isn’t?), place these highly Instagrammable pit stops high on your agenda this week.
Attendant Café
For some much-needed breakfast, head to Fitzrovia. Off the beaten track when it comes to LFW’s main show space but more than worth the visit, Attendant Cafe is one of our favourite spots for brunch. A former Victorian public toilet (bear with us) has been transformed, porcelain and all, into an underground haven for brunch lovers. The tiny space maintains many of its original *attributes*, creating a unique pit stop that not only serves as a quirky talking point, but it also serves up great fashion week fuel.
Kaffeine
Enjoy a leisurely walk down to the main show space with plenty of coffee stops. Inspired by the world-famous coffee culture of Australia and New Zealand, Kaffeine is a light, breezy café with two central locations. Stop for a flat white and, if you’re going for the authentic Kaffeine experience, an Anzac biscuit for a treat.
Balthazar
For lunch, head to one of fashion week’s busiest spots – Balthazar. New York-born restaurant offers delicious, hearty food from a French-inspired menu, as well as a bustling atmosphere, particularly during LFW. Art deco-inspired decor creates swoon-worthy interiors which fill the crowded space, offering a luxuriant spot for a decadent lunch and an authentic fashion week experience.
Covent Garden Grind
Instagrammable interiors, an excellent throwback playlist and espresso cocktails – what more could you need for fashion week fuel? Covent Garden Grind is a short walk from the main show space, offering neon light-flooded safe haven during the hectic week. Stop for pizza with a side of people watching, or an espresso martini to celebrate fashion week.
Freud Bar
Round off your day with a cocktail at Freud’s. In a tiny basement with high ceilings, the underground café-bar promises superb cocktails, a lively atmosphere and a constantly changing art exhibition on display. The industrial-feel café is a perfect antidote to a day of high-drama shows, offering an escape down the stairs for anyone feeling fashion week fatigue.
