In Focus: Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine

Author Editor - 1 minute read

Looking for a Christmas read to cosy up on the sofa with? Or are you still scrambling for that last minute Christmas present? We may have just the thing.

Influencer, Naomi Ross, is on hand with a book that will be up anyone's street - heart-warming, captivating and funny, what more do you need?

There are few things more rewarding than discovering a good book, so when I heard about Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine and all the buzz surrounding it, I just had to give it a go… I must say I was blown away – it lived up to expectations and then some! We all need a good book to cosy up with during the winter months and I would definitely recommend this masterpiece. I cannot believe this is Gail Honeyman’s debut novel, and I can see why it has become a phenomenal success; it more than deserves the Book of the Year accolade.

I sat down with a coffee thinking I’d read a couple of chapters and two hours later, I was still hooked! The storyline is so heart-warming, although it may not seem that way from the outset. Eleanor has a strange yet charming character; quite misunderstood, and that’s what’s so endearing about the whole thing. There’s an underlying message of how effective small acts of kindness can really be, and I’m sure this is something we can all relate to. There is also a layer of unpredictability, as well as some laugh out loud moments – which is something I always look out for when picking up a new read.

I think this book could be helpful for so many people, as it has a very thought-provoking message: we cannot judge a book by its cover. I’ll be recommending to all of my friends, and with its gorgeous starry jacket it’s the perfect gift for friends and family this Christmas!
